The F Word
Conversations for Social Work
Fathers who do not live together with the mother and children are more likely to be excluded during assessments for services and interventions, this is not in the best interests of children.
48 conversations cards to help social workers
- better understand the value of engaging with fathers
- improve the way they work with fathers
- challenge current systems in their organisation, and the wider social work landscape, with regard to working with fathers
- explore their own biases and perceptions
This resource is designed to help you in your work with families to ensure that you are providing the best possible service and intervention for the children you are supporting by challenging the way you view, communicate and work with fathers.
These cards are aimed specifically at engaging with biological fathers where it is safe to do so, whether the father lives in the home with the family or is a non-resident parent.
Written by Aleksander Binder, who founded Dads4Life UK to raise awareness of the importance of fathers & the impact of fatherlessness on children, families and society. He has recently been developing ‘The F Word’ project and is engaging in dialogue with professionals, organisations and politicians to try and reframe current social policies and practices to better reflect modern society.
