Fink Cards

Feeling Safe

Regular price £18.99

Safeguarding is everyone's business, however, to support people to 'feel safe' and make safeguarding personal we first need to understand what is important 'to' each person & what is important 'for' them.

These cards are for all staff providing support to people who are living within a care home environment.

The cards will assist support staff to find out what is ‘important to’ and ‘important for’ people by effectively listening to their personal views of safety and security. They will provide prompts for discussions around person-centred support with an emphasis on ‘feeling safe’

The cards are divided into colour coded categories

  • Blue: Wellbeing
  • Green: Your Day/Night
  • Pink: Leisure
  • Orange: Relationships

The Person-Centred Safeguarding Champion Programme piloted by West Sussex County Council was a ‘preventative’ programme that focused on supporting ‘person-centred safety’. The programmes main aim was to move the focus from ‘What’s the matter’ to ‘What matters’.

Improving people’s involvement, choice, control, confidence, wellbeing, and safety enhances the quality of their life, as well as lessening any feelings of anxiety they may be experiencing.

The Person-Centred Safeguarding Champion Pilot programme facilitated by the Care and Business Support Team (West Sussex County Council) worked with ‘champions’ from 40 Care Homes for older people (with and without nursing needs) across West Sussex.
